The bird has now got some oil on and around the neck which we noticed it was trying to clean off.

Kumlien's Gull ~ Dover Harbour, Kent ... 25.02.12

Sunday 26 February 2012

Yeah i know, back again blah, blah ...
Why not !!
The promise of some nice light and the lure of even more gull's was just to much to handle, so by 08:00  we were at Wellington Docks, Dover Harbour.

Then a walk out for some Gull action on Admiralty Pier, couldn't quite get the feeding frenzy going but  we had a good go at it !!

Tuesday 21 February 2012

Plan A .. This was to go to Southend Pier for Med Gull's luckily Kev heard that it was closed for the weekend, apparently a fishing boat crashed in to the pier !!
Yeah because you can't see a 1.3km pier can you !!!!
Plan B .. Didn't really have a plan B, but having not quite seen enough gull's of late, we thought it would be rude not to go and see the beauty at Dover Harbour ...
Rocked up at about 08:30, overcast & dull so up went the iso's, walked out no more than 50 metre's and there it was just hanging in the strong wind and updraft from the pier. Our target was a Kumlien's Gull - 2nd. W, it and all the others were putting on a flying display in the updraft, so down went some bread and in came in Kumlien's.
The action was crazy !!

Nimmo's Pier, Galway, Ireland ... 06.02.12

Monday 13 February 2012

What better way to spend my birthday than with the gull's at Nimmo's Pier, Galway on the 6th Feb, just a shame it wasn't sunshine so it's another day at high iso's in dull light...
First thing was an hour at Nimmo's with nowhere near as many white-wingers as Friday, so we drove along the coast to Rossaveel mostly in fog with dire visibility at times. All Lough's were birdless, the carm waters strangely devoid of anything other than the reflection of the sky ...
Back at Nimmo's for the afternoon produced 6 Iceland's & 1 Ring-billed so i got trigger happy again !!

But it's so cheap were going to book again .... Yippee !!

A great trip, with freedom to do what you want !!

Next time hopefully the gull's are still there and it's blue skies ...
